Yet another forum upgrade…

Since trying to get the club started with a message board i have encountered loads of sleepless nights and developed numerous grey hairs on my bonce.  It hasn’t been easy!

The first effort looked nice, all black and silver and got off to a reasonable start, but then a whole host of people who were nothing to do with Fenland Clarion CC deluged the site with membership requests and tried to start selling us pills.

(the smart people reading this will see the irony of a cycling clubs forum being hijacked by people in Eastern Europe trying to sell drugs of course)

I spent ages trawling the ‘net for an ideal replacement and came up with one.I got it set up and got some introductory posts on there before… disaster of disasters, Simon J discovered you couldn’t register and be set up as a new user !!!

So we are now on attempt 3 with proboards and I have to say it is the easiest software to work with and has the most functionality. I am really proud of how it is looking and I hope to see many of you clicking the link to the right of this post (that says Fenland Clarion CC Message board) or clicking here , and taking a few seconds to register and then get posting. I have the settings as such that I will get an email when you register and I will have to activate you so you can get your views known on the forum, but I will aim to do that as quickly as I can (maybe even from my mobile, we are that swish now!!!).

All that remains is for me to plea that you get involved, get posting and contribute. The best contributions will be considered for the “Crooked Wheel” so there is no reason not to get your writing heads on. The site will also allow you to post photos.

Paul Lilley scorched round a cold and windy course based on Folksworth to secure a win in the opening race of the local cycling season.

Yarwell based Lilley recorded 54 minutes dead for the 21 mile course taking the prize ahead of returning Lynden Leadbeater by only 9 seconds. The top three was completed by Dave Langlands with 54.32.

Paul Asplin, fresh from a winter of off road success on his mountain bike, carried on his good form winning the handicap event and finishing 9th overall.
